HOW CAN YOU MAKE CHANGES IN YOUR LIFE WHEN YOU FEEL STUCK?

Sometimes it appears that when we really wish to change a situation and make big changes in our lives it almost seems impossible. We feel angry, resentful and frustrated. We may end up shouting and screaming and saying how fed up and miserable we are and the more we do this the worse it all appears to be. There is a reason for this!
The more we feed into a feeling of hopelessness, despair, frustration or irritation we only make the very things we wish to go away become larger in our lives. This is an annoying truth which I have discovered myself! This is because whatever we put our focus and energy into grows and grows. If we fear the very worst then this is likely to happen. If we imagine the best then that is what will probably happen.
I know what it is like trying to get out of a negative situation and towards something more positive. From my own experiences and investigations into the whole phenomena I have the following list of suggestions!
GO OUT WANDERING
Just wander off for a walk nowhere in particular or it may be a place you know and love.
Do not have any particular destination in mind. But set out and ask your guides and angels, God or whatever divine source you refer to, to give you guidance on your walk about your current situation. Note down any feelings, impressions, thoughts, ideas or inspirations you have on your wander. These may carry divine guidance.
Meditate often on your situation and before your meditation have an intention to find out how you can help yourself move out of your current situation into something more positive. This could be about any life situation. If you do not know how to meditate, try just staring into a candle flame for 10-15 minutes or just sit and be aware of your breath. Or you could stare at a picture of a flower. You could say ‘Om’ out loud or in your head for 5-10 minutes.
GO IN THE OTHER DIRECTION
Try ‘going in the other direction’. This means go on another route into town, work or wherever you usually go. Go down streets, alleyways, paths, parks and places where you would not normally go. This may give you a feeling of breaking your routine a bit and stepping into new places.
Get into different physical positions. If you know yoga do some yoga positions.
If not, try standing on one leg, sitting and standing in unusual ways, walk on tip toes, stretch out your arms and legs or run on the spot. Stretch out the body and move out old energy!
VISUALIZATION AND IMAGINATION
- Visualize and think about what you do want in your life, rather than what you don’t want! Imagine these things as often as possible. You may do this in your head or by drawing or writing. You can even make a little board or scrap book and cut out pictures which represent what it is you would like to manifest in your life. In your head imagine sights, smells, colours and feelings. If you are able try feeling the feeling you would have if you had what you wished for. Really imagine this thing is happening to you now – what feeling does this give you?
FEEL THE FEELING
I am going to elaborate on the theme of feelings now. If you feel like a hard up, broke person with little hope of anything changing then you will probably stay as you are. However, if you become like an actor who is in fact broke but who plays the part of a rich or well off person and loves playing the part you will attract more riches towards you. You need to access the feeling first and really feel as if you have plenty of money or whatever it is you aspire to and then things can change. You are inviting a new energy into your energetic system and physical body.
THANK GOD AND HAVE FAITH THINGS WILL CHANGE
Or whatever divine source you call upon for helping you achieve your aim. Give thanks often for that which you have not received yet. By saying ‘thank-you’ you are declaring that you have sufficient faith to know that what you wish for is being dealt with on other levels and will come to you when the time is right. Everything is also about divine timing. Never give up believing that your life will change for the better!
Bring a sense of joy into your life even in small ways. You may be unhappy in your current situation but there are still ways of bringing a little happiness your way even if it takes a bit of effort. Go to a place you love, whether woodland, forest, beach, park or mountain perhaps. If you love swimming go for a swim often. If you love foraging for wild food do that. If you love to ski, hike, ramble, draw, paint, sing, sculpt, move, dance, play guitar, drum, garden, sit still, write, knit, crochet or whatever else is accessible to you then just do it and enjoy yourself even if for a few minutes a day. Write lists of everything (however small) that is good in your life now. Please avoid alcohol, drugs of any kind or unhealthy food though!
SPRING CLEAN AND FENG SHUI
There is nothing like a spring clean! Yes, dirt, clutter, dust and debris get in the way of us moving on in life. So clean out those physical cobwebs as well as the metaphorical ones! If you have things you don’t really like or which are half broken get rid of them. Give your home a good clean. Water is good Feng Shui and dust is negative Feng Shui. There are lots of Feng Shui techniques that can be used to help make positive change in your life but you need to research this. Also when you clean your home put your intention into it, by declaring to the universe that you are clearing away the old to make way for the new!
When we work on ourselves we are working on our whole lives and our relationships with others. It may be that you cannot move on yet because there is some resistance, fear or block holding you back and this happens to us all. Try finding a healer or therapist of some kind or if this is not accessible to you write a daily journal to find out how you feel. Ask God to heal you of anything that is holding you back. You can also call on the White Brethren at any time when you are in a relaxed state either lying down, sitting or walking in the countryside. Ask them to give you whatever healing you need right now to help you move on.
DANCE AND CHANTING
- Sanskrit chanting is very helpful as there are specific chants for moving through obstacles on our path and chants for abundance. Also try doing rituals, 5 Rhythms dance or other therapeutic type dances.
Finally, it may be that you are not moving on yet because it is not quite the right time and there are other things you need to do first, things to learn or final issues to be resolved where you are currently.
WHAT TO DO WITH THE FRUSTRATION!
If you feel angry and frustrated then you need to feel this, express it and move it out of your system otherwise it will be a block. You need to be aware of how you are feeling initially as this is a message to yourself that you need changes to take place in your life. Express and release the emotions through creative arts, writing about how you feel, talking to a friend or fast physical movement such as stamping, running etc! There are many other ways too. Be aware that you need things to change but let go of anger and frustration and accept your current situation in the best way you can until you are ready for changes to occur.
Here’s an experience I once had:
I was fed up and angry with a situation which did not seem to change. It was as if I was banging my head against an iron bridge! Anyway, I decided one day to escape my situation for the morning and head off to the nearby beach. I walked further than I would do normally. I was amazed at the beauty I found. I discovered a whole area where no-one seemed to go. I found a cave and huge rock pools. There seemed to be a wide expanse of beach and just me in this space. I felt like I had found my paradise. I spent the whole morning there and loved it. I returned the next day and the next. I ended up spending half of every day at the beach, eating my breakfast by rock pools and singing in the cave. I would stand on one leg and face the rising sun. It felt a really magical experience. I started to even forget my frustrating life situation and felt I was quite happy in my magical world on the beach. Then things started to change. Gradually, gradually my paradise world expanded until I made a big change and it was like turning over a new chapter in a book – or even opening a new book altogether. I had started to have the feeling of being in a positive new experience and so my feeling had manifested more positive change.
So be aware of what you wish to change in your life, value what you do have right now and how you can really enjoy those things and affirm what you would like to manifest. In the meantime look after yourself well during these transient times. Get rest, good nourishment and give yourself healthy treats and nurturing in whatever way that may be!
