CATS AND HUMAN CREATURES
By Jo Moon
There is an uncanny belief that many animals are wild, ferocious, cannibals even, dangerous, territorial and maybe just ‘nasty’ at times! On the surface this may appear true. We see pictures on the media of animals ripping other creatures to pieces to eat. We see lions stalking deer. So many animals apparently need to kill another for their very survival. However, there is another side to this story.

Within the world there are energies, emotions, attitudes, themes and activities which come from the human and animal kingdoms.

When we say cats are territorial it is often true but how territorial are we?
Why do we feel the need to invade other countries, start wars, kill, fight, take over land or not let another country take what we have? Why do we fear other nations taking from us? Why do we fear so much that we destroy another country and its people?

On a more personal level we have many fears, defences and reactions
We have mini wars and arguments with our own families, friends and colleagues.

Within us as human beings there are many many layers and sides to us that we often do not know about consciously. There is a higher part, being the soul or higher self, which knows everything. There are lower parts which have been hurt, abused, neglected, unloved, ridiculed, controlled, judged, dominated or manipulated in this lifetime and many others. If we are fortunate and persevering with ourselves we may receive healing for our internal wounds. If we choose to ignore them we will act in a variety of ways in order to escape or deal with these parts of us in different ways.

Everyone has these wounds to a greater or lesser extent
In the Rudolph Steiner schools it is accepted that every child has a wound and it is part of the teacher’s job to help heal these aspects of each child. One way in which this is done is through daily healing storytelling.*

What we see around us in the world, in every aspect of the world, are events, behaviours, actions and emotions which all express aspects of ourselves as a human species. We can only see what exists inside us. We can only know and understand what is already somewhere in our own nature, whether emotional, mental, spiritual or physical.

I know of a 15 year old boy who lived in a caravan near a wood with his family and was able to put his nose right up against the nose of a deer. I know of many other situations where deer would run away quickly from any signs of a human being.

Anastasia lives in the Taiga forest in Russia and brought up her baby with the assistance of a bear. For warmth and comfort she has encouraged others to sleep with the bear as a kind of bed! Others have been attacked by bears, dogs, cows, tigers, alligators and many other animals. But this is just like our human interactions and encounters: some are loving and giving and others are attacking and fuelled with an energy of fear and negativity.

What we see around us is reflective of everything inside us as human beings.

Today I heard the shrieks and cries of cats from my top floor flat. I looked out of the window and saw in the garden 2 cats snarling at each other. I figured that one thought the garden belonged to it and that the other cat was an invader, as territorial cats generally do.
I immediately visualised light coming between the cats and chanted ‘Om Mani Padme Hum’ – a Sanskrit chant for opening the heart to love and compassion. I sent the chant energetically to the cats. Straight away the snarling and hissing stopped. The hair gradually calmed down and flattened down on the cats’ backs. One of the cats padded off and rolled on its back contentedly on the vegetable patch while the other carried on sitting on its little mound. Perhaps they were slightly distant friends now!
These cats were simply acting out the trials, conflicts and fears we all experience in our day to day relationships with others at times as human beings.
Light, love and healing is always the answer and more and more of this will bring great miracles to our beautiful Earth especially if we choose as a collective human race to live in the light of God’s love and truth.

Please join in a discussion on this subject or make a comment perhaps about your own animal or non animals experiences!

*I work with people this way myself in groups and 1:1 sessions telling healing stories and running workshops to help people express what is inside them.
