THE SEA AT NIGHT©
BY JO MOON
I was walking along the sea front of my local town at midnight last night. I noticed strongly how loud the waves sounded. The sea front is on a busy main road as seaside towns often are in the UK. Most of the time I walk or cycle along the pavement or cycle path in the day time or early evening. But this time it felt very different. There were hardly any people about, just a woman staring out to sea standing at the railings, a man walking past with a rucksack on his back and another on a mobile phone.
I listened with great interest as the mesmerizing sound of the sea seemed to intensify and engulf me as the gentle waves lapped on the shore. It was not particularly rough or windy yet the sound of the waves echoed across the landscape. Otherwise it was extraordinarily quiet. I could just hear the sea, as if in loud stereo with volume turned full on.
I looked across at the neighbouring road. It was empty. Not empty of houses, cars, restaurants, bins and all the usual paraphernalia of town life, but there was not a single vehicle driving along the road. I realised then that the sound of the sea had not been amplified, but the constant drone of traffic had been turned off, was not present. I was alone with nature in the middle of the night, and in the middle of town. She had made her voice clearer and louder and had drowned out the sound of city life and vehicle emissions, even if just for a short space of time.
I realized that most of the time, when living in an urban environment, we barely notice the noise levels around us. We become used to the sound of traffic, sirens, people, clattering of bins and other urban sounds above the natural sound of nature.
One day perhaps there will not be enough oil to run our noisy and polluting vehicles. One day we will find a better way forwards, that fits in with nature. One day we will find more places that are quiet and still. One day there will be peace.
We need vehicles to get around in. We do not have to go back to antiquity and start all over again, walking or cycling everywhere or using horses and carts. We have the power to create amazing technology. We have knowledge of alternative energy sources. Cars could be run on solar or wind power. Diesel engines can be run on Bio-Diesel which does not harm the environment and which utilizes used vegetable oils from restaurants, cafes etc. Why are bio-diesel pumps not available at every garage?
Why can there not be more car free, quiet zones in busy cities and towns?
The root answer to many of these questions lies in the issue of money. I believe that if we eradicated the use of money and functioned in a totally different way many of the world’s problems would be resolved. We are not at the level of global consciousness necessary to do this yet since it takes great spiritual awareness, faith and commitment to such a way of being. Yet it is possible. Everything is possible with enough like minds and a mass rising of consciousness with a global decision for positive change. One day we will be at this level, if not in our life times, it will happen eventually.
2012 marks a global turning point and one where mass consciousness will rise. 2011 is the lead up to this where chaos and emotional upheaval can be felt and experienced strongly, but it is only to make way for a better world and a higher way of being. This is the only way we can evolve as a human species and create a sustainable world.
By fighting, competing, destroying nature and focusing on material issues and consumerism we will never find the answers to a peaceful and harmonious world where we get all our needs met.
It is the sound of the sea and silence of traffic that speaks of a better, more joyful world where we all live and bring up our children in safety and peace.
It is the sound of nature that we need to bring back more strongly into our lives and then we will re-attune more fully to our true spiritual selves and a spiritual way of being.
FINAL NOTE – LIFE ON THE LAND
As 2012 approaches and beyond more and more of us will need to move out of cities and towns and build small rural communities in woods, forests and on land. We have lost our sense of community. We are separated by bricks and walls, isolated in separate units where our bills and expenses are rapidly increasing. We are wasting water by flushing toilets and not utilizing our other waste water from baths and showers. We are separated from nature. We are in conflict with neighbours or experiencing noise pollution on a daily basis. We are inundated by electromagnetic stress from mobile phone masts, pylons and electricity in the home. The price of food is escalating. We need to be more sustainable as individuals as well as globally to survive the changes that are upon us. Living back in nature is one solution to this. We need to live and work together now to eradicate and solve some of these global problems. We cannot do this if we are constantly being influenced and contaminated by negative energies around us in our urban environments. Nature is a healer. Nature brings us back to our spiritual centre. Nature is our life force, our breath. It is time to re-attune to her and remember what is truly important to us in this Earthly life.

IT IS A TIME OF HUGE CHANGE NOW AND IF WE DO NOT CHANGE WE WILL FACE THE CHALLENGES AND DESTRUCTIVE ENERGIES OF A WORLD IN A HUGE STATE OF TRANSFORMATION AND CRISIS.
