Alone with a snake
The one in the grass
Too empty to pray
Too starving to eat
Too long gone alone
To seek out others
Too fat and too thin
To know
Too famished to say
‘I’ll eat’

Never say die
Even
When
Hanging off
The edge of a
Cliff

Because the saviour
May come
Blessings may
Preserve
Or you will die
Go to heaven
And come back
Once more
To this torture
Called life…
